About the Artist - Amanda Adams

Salt Brush Coastal is based in Newcastle, NSW, on Australia’s beautiful east coast. 

Surrounded by stunning beaches, ocean baths and a vibrant coastal lifestyle, Newcastle provides endless inspiration for my artwork.

Growing up by the ocean, I've always felt most at home by the water — salty air, sandy feet, long summer days and the calm that only the sea can bring.

I’ve been holidaying in Hat Head since I was a baby, and it has become a place that holds countless special memories for my family. Now, with my own children, we continue the tradition and visit as often as we can. The natural beauty, relaxed pace and nostalgia of Hat Head inspire many of the coastal scenes and stories captured in my artwork.

What began as a creative outlet slowly grew into a collection of greeting cards and fine art prints designed to bring a little coastal calm into everyday life.

Painting began quite unexpectedly. One day I borrowed my children's watercolour paints to create a card for a friend, and I instantly fell in love with the process. What started as a simple creative moment quickly grew into something much bigger. I bought some better-quality paints and began creating Christmas cards for family and friends, before painting a special series of Hat Head artworks for my mum for Mother's Day.

Somewhere in the middle of painting that series, the idea for Salt Brush Coastal was born.

Today, every painting is inspired by the simple beauty of coastal living and everyday moments with our loved ones. Through Salt Brush Coastal, I hope to create artwork that brings a sense of warmth, nostalgia and a relaxed seaside feel to both your home and life's special moments.
